Wed 29 May 2024:
Apple agreed to pay $35 million as part of a class-action lawsuit that was filed in 2019 in the US District Court for the Northern District of California.
According to CNet, longtime Apple customers who used the iPhone 7 or iPhone 7 Plus might be qualified for up to $349 in compensation.
The case originated from claims that a number of the abovementioned iPhones had audio issues, specifically with the audio IC chip, which controls the phone’s audio output.
Although Apple has denied these issues, it has nevertheless agreed to the payout, which users can claim if the given conditions are met.
Here are the conditions that qualify you for the Apple settlement
People who owned an iPhone 7 or iPhone 7 Plus between September 16, 2016 and January 3, 2023, are eligible; however, Apple must have registered your complaints about the audio issue or other issues covered by the settlement.
The covered issues include:
- Sound-Speaker
- Sound-Microphone
- Sound-Receiver
- Unexpected Restart or Shutdown
- Power On-Device Unresponsive
Users who paid for a repair or replacement pertaining to the above issues also qualify.
People who have made complaints will automatically get notified by email or a message about the compensation money.
Anyone who thinks they qualify and has not received an email may contact the Apple information desk.
This isn’t the first lawsuit payout for the iPhone 7 models. Apple customers who purchased the iPhone 6, 6 Plus, 6s, 6s Plus, 7, 7 Plus or the SE before December 21, 2017, were eligible for $25 as part of the company’s settlement of a $500 million class action lawsuit that accused it of slowing down older devices with system upgrades, which in turn forced users to upgrade to the latest iPhone model..
