The Biggest Festival of a democracy is about to begin. Who are you going to vote for?
Modi Wave
I started my life of political cognizance with being a Modi fan, like millions of others of my generation. Such was the wave of our prime minister Modi, that social media was applauding his every move. I added my voice to this brouhaha and publicly supported him for a good period.
I can still recall a few instances of the way he worked which took my breath away. One such instance which was shared on quora when he personally called an IAS officer to speed up making of a highway. It was such a magnificent gesture for a leader of such stature to call an IAS officer. News agency covered it profusely.
Such was the coverage of this event that it was picked up by newspapers and TV channels as they heaped praises at Modi for being such a dedicated PM.
It was impossible to be not a Modi fan in such an environment. It was impossible to not praise him. I supported Modi in all my discussions with my friends and family, until one day when it turned out the Quora answer was a fake answer. That Modi had never called an IAS for making of a highway. That there was no highway to be completed.
IT Cell and the Fake news
It was a heart wrenching moment to know that it was fake. But I still continued to support Modi. Then one day a friend told me how BJP pushes its narrative through a well organised IT cell working over all the social medias of communication
Paresh Rawal Twitter plan exposed
It became clearer that BJP IT cell was indeed working in shady ways. Then it struck me home of how they had a big factory of fake news to demonstrate that Modi is indeed supreme leader and other leaders are completely incompetent.
Every thing came under new light. News like these made more sense now.
Media was working closely with the IT cell. By now, Pushpak Chakraborty, the writer of famous Quora answer mentioned above had openly accepted that he works for bjp IT cell.
The former head of IT cell had resigned and these were his words in the resignation letter- Madness has gripped the party. The desire to win at any cost has destroyed the very ethos of the party. This is not the party I joined in 2004.
I had to question Modi. I had to question everything that came out in media.
I also had come across a video where Rahul Gandhi claimed to install a machine that would turn potato into gold. I quickly realised that this video was fake as well.
I had to check other ways in which they were using their influence on social media to deform the image of a political opponent. There were hundreds of viral videos doing rounds on social media. These were gaffes that Rahul Gandhi committed which were carefully edited to present him as pappu. By using editing techniques, and adding background sounds like “toing”, “boom”, “hahaha”, they were being presented in funny ways. When actually heard without these sounds they weren’t funny at all. Like this funny show which is not fun at all without a laugh track.
Collective Political Bullying of a leader
Tongue slips, mishaps, and bloopers were being presented as if they are crime.
One can argue that this was all being done by his party workers, the people beneath him and that he wasn’t even aware of such instances. But didn’t he directly trigger them all? Didn’t he call Rahul Gandhi a dumb-wit in the parliament? Didn’t he call him dyslexic in front of an audience having a young generation? (He completely ignored the fact, in his arrogance, that dyslexic people have problem in understanding but are quiet intelligent.)
Wasn’t my PM contributing to, or maybe carefully guiding, the deteriorating political environment?
And it isn’t just about deteriorating political environment, it is also about deteriorating ethos in the Indian families. Isn’t it heartbreaking to see IT cell members using their kids to fulfill their political agenda? Aren’t they infusing going minds with hatred?
The hatred knows no limit when you start supporting rapes of children of minority. A incident that must have been unequivocally abhorred was being supported.
No justice for kathua rape case victim
Maybe this is what his true colors are. Well, a man is known by the company he keeps.
Hall of shame – Serial abusers, sexist bigots, rumor mongers followed by PM Modi on Twitter
(I personally verified most of the people he follows. It also portrays Modi’s narcissistic personality when he follows IT cell members as a gift.)
It was also sad to see how a murder of a journalist with opposing views were celebrated on social media.
Such people were being followed by pm as well.
And later when murderer was found, this is what he had to say.
Gauri Lankesh’s killer ‘confesses’ he killed her to ‘save his religion’ — Aren’t those words used by terrorist as an excuse to kill people?
Sanatan sanstha planned bomb blasts at Pune sunburn.

Violence violence everywhere, not a drop of development
All these shenanigans by Bjp would have been forgiven had to performed well in development agenda. But no.
India’s unemployment rate hit 45-year high in 2017–18: report
Perhaps that’s why they had stopped collecting data for a couple of years.
All they have done is captured institutions by installing their puppets on the top positions.
Director of ONGC is sambit patra. — What does he know about ONGC?
Arnab goswami who knows nothing except yelling was selected as a committee member of NMML. On what grounds?
We had a brilliant economist Raghuram Rajan who was attacked by his stooge.
The work of the governor of RBI is to go against the finance ministry. If finance ministry accelerates economy too fast it can lead to a crash. It is job of governor of RBI to slow down growth at such moments, in order to keep it stable. If finance ministry is taking it too slowly then RBI governor has to hit accelerator to maintain growth. RBI governor has to oppose government to keep economy stable.
But the dim wits or perhaps people with authoritarian tendency couldn’t understand this. They then brought Urjit Patel as their own man to head RBI. He was against demonetisation but they went for it.
Few years later after they start demanding money from RBI reserves.
Urjit patel resigned as he couldn’t approve such demand. RBI reserve are meant for emergency and not to launch new schemes to win election.
Urjit Patel is first RBI governor to resign in 43 years: Other RBI governors who resigned before
Urjit patel, being their own man, had the guts to oppose government when it was the need to do so. They bring a person with no economic background as RBI governor.

And then this happens.
India’s central bank finally toes the line, pays $4 billion advance to government.
Even after demonetisation, GST, Swachh Bharat cess, not lowering petrol prices the government became cash strapped and asked for RBI reserves.
Is this joke or something?
Diplomacy, that is being touted as the turning point of this government, is in no better shape.

When I examine closely the actual works of current regime I find that it is no different than previous governments and in fact its achievements are subpar to the previous ones.
There is one thing where they have trumped previous governments, which is their unparalleled arrogance . Never has any previous government tried to free the country of any kind of opposition. Their slogan of “Congress mukt Bharat” is the hallmark of their dictatorial tendencies.
They may surely go on to rule for as many years as they may like but they must not forget that they have their voices up because of the liberty that they were given by the last 70 years of congress rule. Had Nehru thought of completely exterminating the plaguing ideology of theirs the ignorant leaders of today wouldn’t even have existed.
Is Democracy a farce?
But in our case the problem does not lie with the current holders of the power. The problem lies with we the people of this country. We have placed so much confidence in our leader that the idea that he may be fallible seems to be foreign to us. We have entered into the mode where we worship a leader as if he is some God.
Democracy does not works that way. Democracy is “by the people, for the people, of the people”. We have changed it to “by the leader, for the leader, of the leader”. A healthy democracy is about a never ending conversation between a leader and its people. A leader must be put to questions. A leader is answerable to its people.
But ours is busy doing this
