ISRAEL’S GANTZ SELF-ISOLATING DUE TO SUSPECTED EXPOSURE TO CORONAVIRUS

Israel’s defence minister said he was self-isolating due to suspected exposure to a person infected with the coronavirus.

Benny Gantz’s spokesman said: “Due to suspicion of being exposed to a coronavirus patient last Sunday evening, out of the desire and responsibility to avoid risk of infection and after consulting with medical officials, Defence Minister and Alternate Prime Minister Benny Gantz decided to go into isolation, pending a corona examination and epidemiologic investigation.” 

Israel and the West Bank are dealing with a renewed outbreak of the coronavirus, leading to proposals and measures intended to curb its spread and mitigate the economic ramifications of the crisis by both the Israeli and the Palestinian authorities.

32,714 people in Israel have so far tested positive for the coronavirus; 343 people have died. 
In the West Bank, there are 4,390 active cases; 21 people have died. In the Gaza Strip, 72 people were diagnosed and one person has died.
