While case against ‘House of Cards’ actor dropped, Spacey still faces criminal charges

The man who accused “House of Cards” actor Kevin Spacey of groping dropped his lawsuit against the award-winning actor on Friday, just a week after filing the case. Mitchell Garabedian, the alleged victim’s lawyer, reportedly said that his client filed papers Wednesday that dropped the lawsuit accusing Spacey of explicit sexual behavior and lewd conduct.

Spacey pleaded not guilty to one count of felony indecent assault and battery at a bar in Nantucket, a beach island in Massachusetts, according to multiple reports. The actor is one of dozens across Hollywood who have been embroiled in sexual misconduct accusations during the #MeToo movement which began in 2017.

Spacey, who won an Academy Award in 2000 for his role in “American Beauty”, had also been involved in another sexual misconduct case. In October 2017, he was accused of trying to seduce actor Anthony Rapp when Rapp was 14 years old back in 1986.

This led to “House of Cards” dropping Spacey from the show and the movie “All The Money in the World” cutting him out entirely, and the actor later apologized for his actions. While the recent case has been dropped, Space still faces criminal charges.
