Fri 25 November 2022:

The American electric car manufacturer Tesla is recalling 67,698 automobiles in China because of software problems, according to Chinese official media on Friday.

Tesla’s Model S and Model X vehicles manufactured between September 25, 2013, and November 21, 2020 are included in the recall, according to China’s State Administration for Market Regulation, according to Xinhua News Agency.

China’s top market watchdog claimed that the vehicles’ battery management inadvertently displays warnings like “safe parking” and “maintenance required” on its screens, which in some situations may result in power cuts and lead to unintended collisions in some cases.

The electric car manufacturer will provide free software updates on the recalled vehicles.

Tesla in April recalled almost 128,000 vehicles of Model 3 in China due to semiconductor issues that could potentially lead to collisions.

According to China’s Passenger Car Association, Tesla sold 83,135 vehicles there in September, shattering the factory’s Shanghai monthly record.
