Tue 06 June 2023:

WhatsApp, a messaging service owned by Meta, is introducing a new calling button and context menu for iOS beta.

WABetaInfo says that users will notice a distinctive calling icon if the new feature is enabled on their application.

Participants in groups can still use this new icon to make group calls, but it will now show a context menu where they can choose between an audio or video call.

Earlier, an action sheet menu appeared with those two options, but with the new update, that menu has been changed into a context menu.

The new calling option is already accessible to select beta testers who install the most recent WhatsApp beta for iOS through the TestFlight app, and additional users are anticipated to receive it in the upcoming weeks, according to the source.

The messaging service’s ‘companion mode’ function, which enables users to attach an existing account to a second iOS device, was reportedly beginning to roll out to iPhone customers last week, according to reports.

With this feature, users can link up to four devices simultaneously, which means they can connect even more than two mobile phones to their WhatsApp account.
