35% of Israelis considered emigration: Poll
Thu 03 October 2024:
More than a third of adults in Israel have considered leaving the country due to the war that has been going on for a year, and believe there is a real danger to Israel’s existence, a new poll revealed.
According to the survey published by the Maariv newspaper yesterday, 35 per cent of respondents said they have considered emigrating from Israel, including 24 per cent who considered permanent emigration and 11 per cent who considered moving away temporarily.

The poll showed that 47 per cent of the respondents said they “very much want” their children to live in Israel and 26 per cent only “want” their children to live there while 21 per cent stressed that they do not want their children to live in Israel.
Of those polled, the elderly, religious and ultra-Orthodox community were the most happy living in Israel, while those aged 30-44, young couples, and voters of opposition parties were found to be most dissatisfied with living in Israel.
If elections were to take place tomorrow, the Likud Party led by incumbent Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu would win 26 seats, the National Camp 19, Yesh Atid 15, Yisrael Beiteinu 14, Shas 10, the Democratic Party 9, Otzma Yehudit 7, United Torah Judaism 7, Hadash-Ta’al 6, the United List 4, and Religious Zionism 4, the survey found.
These results indicate the coalition parties would be represented by 54 Knesset members, compared to 56 for the opposition Zionist parties, and ten seats for the Arab parties.
If former Prime Minister Naftali Bennett returns to political life as the head of a new party, this party would win 20 seats, while Likud’s share of votes would decline by three seats.
