AFTER LOSS IN US POLLS, TRUMP ORDERED TOP MILITARY LEADER TO SEIZE VOTING MACHINES: REPORT

News Desk World

Sat 22 January 2022:

Donald Trump allegedly wrote an executive order authorizing the US’ top military leader to grab voting equipment after his defeat in the 2020 elections, according to a report.

The shocking memo, obtained by Politico and released by the National Archives, reveals the extremes to which Trump was willing to go to prevent Joe Biden from being named the next president.

The three-page draft, dated December 16, 2020, ordered the Secretary of Defense to “seize, collect, retain and analyze all machines, equipment, electronically stored information, and material records required for retention.”

The order also intended to appoint a special prosecutor to investigate any allegations of fraud arising from the seizures, but it was never signed.

The identity of the person who drafted the order is also unknown.

The draft is one of more than 750 documents provided by the National Archives to a House of Representatives select committee looking into the 2021 Capitol insurgency.

The then-president attempted to block the release of the records by using the “executive privilege” theory, but his appeal was dismissed by the Supreme Court on Wednesday.

Trump and his allies spent months pushing a false narrative of widespread electoral fraud, despite the government officials rebuffing the charges.

The claims were also rejected by Trump-appointed attorney general Bill Barr, and Trump was eventually impeached for inciting the attack on the Capitol by a mob of his supporters.

Meanwhile, the probe committee investigating on Thursday invited Ivanka Trump, daughter of Donald Trump, to provide information and participate in a voluntary interview.

Ivanka was her father’s top White House adviser. The committee wants to question her about Trump’s actions, or inaction, and his state of mind on January 6, 2021, when hundreds of Trump supporters stormed the Capitol and temporarily prevented Congress from confirming President Joe Biden’s electoral victory in 2020.
