Mon 15 November 2021:

According to reports, thousands of students in China’s Liaoning province have been confined following an epidemic of coronavirus, with authorities apparently moving people who had come into touch with them to hotels.

According to reports, almost 7,000 students have been isolated. The Dalian region of China has been the hardest hit by the current viral outbreak, with China’s health authorities reporting new COVID-19 cases.

The latest outbreak has hit 21 provinces in China, with the ports city of Dalian constantly reporting new COVID-19 cases, which is causing concern among health officials.

Reports say people arriving from Dalian in nearby cities have also been quarantined as authorities continue to impose strict rules to fight the virus.

Authorities in Dalian earlier had closed schools and libraries while undertaking mass testing in a bid to combat the virus and later asked people not to leave homes unless necessary.

The virus has hit several areas in the country including capital Beijing which last week had closed malls after outbreaks were reported. The authorities also moved to close areas in Beijing’s s central districts which reported new coronavirus cases.

People within the malls were apparently not allowed to leave until they were tested, as officials imposed strict regulations as China continues to implement the “zero-COVID-19” campaign.

In recent months, Chinese authorities have shut down many towns after viral infections were detected, restricting people’s movement and imposing limitations on domestic air travel.

Despite isolated cases in various parts of the country, China has been able to suppress major outbreaks over the past year, with its total number of reported cases standing at 98,315 with 4,636 deaths.

On Monday, the National Health Commission announced 32 new cases of local transmission over the previous 24 hours, 25 of them in Dalian.
