COALITION TO TARGET HOUTHI SITES IN SANAA; ASKS CIVILIANS TO IMMEDIATELY EVACUATE

Middle East World

Fri 11 February 2022:

According to the Saudi Press Agency, the Arab Coalition has advised inhabitants of Sanaa to evacuate certain “civilian sites” within the next 72 hours and has warned to strike the Houthi militia in the area.

“Crucial points will be bombed in Sanaa that the Houthis use to launch marches,” the Arab Coalition in a statement carried by SPA.

It comes after the Houthi militia, supported by Iran, launched a drone attack on Saudi Arabia’s Abha International Airport on Thursday, injuring 12 people.

The drone was intercepted by the Kingdom’s defenses, although debris was reported to have fallen near the airport.

Abha, near Saudi Arabia’s southern border with Yemen, is a frequent target of drone and missile strikes by the Iran-backed Houthi group fighting coalition forces in Yemen.

“The Houthis have chosen to escalate blatantly by targeting civilian airports and civilians,” said the Arab Coalition in the SPA report.

“Minor physical damages,” including glass panels in some of the airport’s facades was shattered, according to SPA.

Meanwhile, according to SPA, the Arab Coalition conducted 18 targeted attacks in Yemen’s Marib and Hajjah provinces in 24 hours, destroying 12 “military vehicles” and causing casualties on the Houthis.
