Wed 07 October 2026:

Fifty members of the European Parliament, including 46 women, have been targeted by deepfake pornography, according to new research released Monday by Germany-based civil society group Agora Digitale Transformation.

The findings mean roughly one in six female members of the European Parliament have been depicted in or associated with deepfake pornography, the report said.

Deepfake pornography, also known as AI-generated non-consensual intimate imagery (AIG-NCII), involves the use of generative artificial intelligence to create sexually explicit depictions of people without their consent.

“AI-generated non-consensual intimate imagery (AIG-NCII), colloquially known as deepfake pornography, is a systemic threat to women in European politics,” the report said.

Researchers examined hundreds of websites known to host or produce AI-generated sexual content, including sites associated with deepfake pornography, “celebrity leaks” and inappropriate candid images of women in public life.

They searched the names of all 720 MEPs across 200 of these websites using a Google Custom Search engine.

The analysis found that 50 MEPs — 46 women and four men — were depicted in or associated with deepfake pornography.

“Like in our recent audit of the exposure members of the EU’s national parliament face, we find that exposure to this harm falls overwhelmingly on women, is amplified by institutional visibility and affects all major groups across the political spectrum,” the report said.

The report said the findings show that the problem affects lawmakers across political groups and is linked to the visibility that comes with holding public office.

The EU is also taking steps to address AI-generated sexual content. It is banning AI-powered nudifier apps from Dec. 2 and investigating the use of similar technology involving Grok on the social media company X.

The report said the findings highlight the scale of non-consensual AI-generated sexual imagery targeting women in European politics.

“Our new analysis shows 50 MEPs — 46 women and four men — to be depicted in or associated with deepfake pornography. This translates to roughly one in six women MEPs,” the report said.
