Wed 10 November 2021:

Singapore wildlife park Officials announced Wednesday that four lions have tested positive for the coronavirus after coming into touch with infected zookeepers. Symptoms include coughing and sneezing.

At the weekend, the rare Asiatic lions began to show indications of disease, leading officials to order coronavirus tests.

According to the government’s animal and veterinary department, the diseased big cats, along with five others in the Night Safari park, have been placed in isolation in their den.

The infection has been verified in three zookeepers from the Night Safari. Hundreds of animals live in an open-air zoo, which welcomes visitors at night.

An African lion at the Singapore Zoo, which is near the Night Safari, has also been ill, prompting officials to conduct virus tests.

Animals have previously been infected with the virus. At US zoos, lions, tigers, and gorillas have tested positive, as have domestic cats and dogs.

Singapore is currently experiencing its worst COVID-19 outbreak since the outbreak began, with 2,000-3,000 cases per day and a few deaths reported.
