◼️‘They are our neighbours, our partners’: “We do not hate white people; we love them, so much. “So much so that we are saying, for their own freedom, they must allow us to be free so they can demolish their walls in Sandton. But as long as there is still Alexandra, there will be high walls in Sandton,” Malema said. He said his son had even taken a white person as a partner to his matric dance.

◼️ Zimbabwe pays white farmers R8.45 billion: Zimbabwe said that compensation to White farmers for land seized 26 years ago has now reached $508 million (R8.45 billion), as the southern African nation seeks to restore access to international capital markets. In 2000, then-Zimbabwean President Robert Mugabe encouraged the invasion of White-owned farms by Black subsistence farmers and youths, saying it would make up for colonial-era injustices.

◼️ South Africans pay a R1 billion ‘robbery tax’ every month: “The cash crime value of R12 billion or 14% and travel time costs of R8.3 billion or 9% show that safety risks and time spent travelling are major hidden costs,” the SARB said. Bank fees account for the largest direct cost. South Africans spend R31 billion a year on cash transaction charges, including R17.7 billion in withdrawal fees and R13.3 billion in deposit fees. About 40% of South Africans still prefer cash for future payments.
