Here’s what’s happening in South Africa today:👇🏼
◼️ Trump ‘clear’ on refugee resettlement, Afrikaners in SA prioritised: The United States (US) government has signalled a policy shift prioritising the resettlement of Afrikaners from South Africa, citing concerns over alleged race‑based discrimination, with refugee admissions ultimately determined at the presidential level by President Donald Trump.

◼️ SA condemns attacks on foreign nationals: “We continued to assure them that as a South African government, we will condemn any form of attack against foreign nationals. It is in terms of our law, only the police can enforce the law,” he said. ◼️ Borehole regulation proposals spark backlash: “WaterCAN recognises that many households, businesses and communities have turned to boreholes because of ongoing water supply failures and we are not opposed to the responsible use of groundwater,” she said. “If we watch how municipalities allow raw sewage into water sources, as in Rooiwal, the underground water becomes so polluted that it can no longer be used for humans or animals, or for food production,” Farmer organisation TLU SA’s Bennie van Zyl said

◼️ Warning about traffic fines in SA: Berman explained that it is important for business owners to realize that, under South Africa’s traffic legislation, fines issued to fleet vehicles are typically linked to the business through its Business Register Number (BRN). “This means the legal and financial responsibility sits with the owner of the vehicle, not the individual driver,” he explained. This means that the company is on the hook for settling the fine, not the driver, and the company can, therefore not assume that fines are the driver’s responsibility.
