◼️ Dawn Park women gather in horror as ninth woman is found dead: At the scene, an open space in Lama Street in the Villa Lisa area of the Boksburg suburb, they gathered around her body, some weeping as they looked at the woman who had been so brutally murdered. She was wearing only a blue T-shirt and pink underwear. The grim discovery brings to nine the number of women found dead in Ekurhuleni in just nine weeks.

◼️ US not expected to release list of South Africans targeted for visa restrictions: The US government did not say which individuals would be denied entry to the US, though there have been indications in the past that the likes of EFF leader Julius Malema and perhaps some ANC leaders could be targeted. Daily Maverick understands from diplomatic sources that no list of targeted individuals will be made public, so people will only discover they have been sanctioned when they apply for visas or try to travel to the US.

◼️ WATCH | Eco-activist turns Hennops River polystyrene into a paint innovation: But Tarryn believes the waste choking the river could also hold the key to a solution – a paint-like product made from polystyrene that could help fund more cleanups. Johnston, founder of the Hennops Revival non-profit organisation (NPO), has spent the past seven years working closely on the river. Much of the waste comes from informal settlements and underserviced areas, where storm water channels are sometimes used as dumping sites.

◼️ Plan to integrate Sangomas into primary healthcare system in SA: Health Minister Aaron Motsoaledi said they are looking into the role of traditional health practitioners in primary healthcare, referral arrangements, training, and collaborations. Traditional health practitioners, also known as sangomas, are healers and diviners in Southern African societies, particularly among the Zulu people. Sangomas connect the living with their ancestors to diagnose and heal physical, mental, and spiritual illnesses.

◼️ AARTO scam targets South African motorists with fake fines: “This new scam persuades road users to pay the R250 to qualify for a discount. Road Users must not press any link and delete the email immediately,” the RTIA said. It also warned that subject lines such as “Final Notice: Action Required to Avoid Additional Penalties” or “Final Demand: Enforcement Notices” that threatened to block licences were red flags.
