◼️ The Ramaphosa ‘snub’ that never was: The Presidency has dismissed reports that President Cyril Ramaphosa requested a state visit to Ghana, saying no such visit had been planned. The claims, first published by several Ghanaian media organisations before spreading across West Africa and beyond, alleged that Accra had declined to host Ramaphosa in protest over attacks on foreign nationals in South Africa. The reports were subsequently amplified by media across the continent and internationally, including the BBC.

◼️ Zuma and Ajay Gupta controversy: The Hindasa Foundation has come to the defence of High Commissioner to India, Ambassador Anil Sooklal, amid scrutiny over receiving former president Jacob Zuma and Ajay Gupta in India, stating that he did not act unilaterally or improperly. Zuma sparked controversy last week after visiting a temple in Haridwar, India, alongside Sooklal and Ajay, a member of the family accused of orchestrating the state capture scandal.

◼️ Car Trunk to 17 Stores: “GALXBOY started in high school. We had a crew of friends, we called ourselves the Cheese Boys, so I made a T-shirt for our crew, and we used to wear those T-shirts during casual day,” he said. Dube explained that after he and his friends started wearing the T-shirts at school, other students wanted their own, which inspired Dube to start selling them.

◼️ BackaBuddy shuts down fundraiser: BackaBuddy has removed a crowdfunding campaign that aimed to raise R400 000 to cover the legal fees of Peet Viljoen, who faces 400 charges, including fraud, theft, corruption, and forgery, linked to an alleged R27.6 million Johannesburg Property Company scam. By Tuesday afternoon, the appeal had raised only just R3 500 before BackaBuddy put a stop to it.

◼️ End of an era for Shell fuel stations in SA: Abu Dhabi National Oil’s retail unit agreed to buy Shell’s fuel stations in South Africa at a $1 billion (R16.25 billion) enterprise value, giving the state company access to Africa’s biggest economy for the first time. Adnoc Distribution will gain control of 580 retail stations in the country as well as wholesale fuel, aviation and lubricants operations, it said in a statement.
