◼️ More woes for Mchunu: Monday’s raid is the second to have been conducted at Mchunu’s home where gadgets have been confiscated. According to Mshengu, the other confiscated gadget had not been returned to Mchunu. General Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi, the KZN police commissioner, on July 6 infamous media briefing accused Mchunu of political interference in sensitive police operations and alleged that he was aiding the activities of the so-called big five cartel.

◼️ Bozell: Ramaphosa must condemn ‘Kill the Boer, Kill the Farmer’ chant: “But it is the idea of inciting violence. The entire world sees that phrase as an incitement to violence.” Bozell said Washington had asked Ramaphosa to condemn the chant and had not asked South Africa to disregard the courts. His comments come amid deteriorating relations between South Africa and the United States, with Bozell saying he was disappointed that efforts to improve the relationship had not produced the results he expected.

◼️ Digital platform saving lives during SA’s most dangerous weekend: A new digital dashboard that tracks road incidents such as crashes, pedestrian accidents, speeding, and taxi transport patterns has been handed over to the provincial government of Limpopo. “Officials can now use the dashboard to filter road incidents by vehicle type, location (routes) or heavy traffic seasons, such as Easter or the Christmas holidays,” said Maritz. “They can also see how accessible incidents were to emergency responders in terms of travel time from a response station.” “One of the most shocking patterns the maps have revealed so far is the number of pedestrians who are killed in areas around liquor outlets,” Mashige said.
