Videos and images of Union Minister of India Smriti Irani in Medinah, Saudi Arabia, have sparked outrage among social media users.
Irani’s visit to Saudi Arabia leading the delegation to sign the bilateral Haj Agreement 2024.
Her social media account on X, formerly known as Twitter, shows images of her near the Medinah Prophet’s Mosque, one of Islam’s holiest sites.
“Undertook a historic journey to Madinah today, one of Islam’s holiest cities included a visit to the periphery of the revered Prophet’s Mosque, Al Masjid Al Nabwi, the mountain of Uhud, and periphery of the Quba Mosque – the first Mosque of Islam. The significance of the visit to these sites courtesy Saudi officials, intertwined with early Islamic history, underscores the depth of our cultural and spiritual engagement”, Smiriti Irani wrote on her official twitter account.

Saudi Minister of Hajj and Umrah Tawfiq Al-Rabiah met Irani in Jeddah on Sunday.
During the meeting, the Bilateral Hajj Agreement 2024 between India and Saudi Arabia was signed.
The two ministers also discussed plans for improving medical facilities to ensure the well-being of all pilgrims, along with other matters of mutual interest, Irani said on X.
India’s Minister of State for External Affairs V. Muraleedharan also took part in meeting, along with Indian Ambassador to the Kingdom Suhel Ajaz Khan and officials from both sides.
