Mon 24 October 2022:

Instagram has updated Hidden Words and added new features to protect users from abuse.

If you block someone, you can now block additional accounts they may have to make it more difficult for them to connect with you again, according to the company in a blog post.

Based on the results of the initial testing for this new change, the company anticipates that four million fewer accounts will need to be blocked each week, as these accounts will now be blocked automatically.

Since it launched last year, more than one in five people with a minimum of 10,000 followers have turned on the Hidden Words feature.

Hidden Words is an effective tool for automatically removing damaging content from message requests and comments.

The company claims that on average, 40% fewer comments could be offensive.

The company has begun testing the automatic activation of Hidden Words for Creator accounts.

Every user will be able to create a personalized list of additional words, phrases, and emojis they might want to conceal and turn the settings on or off at any time.

Now, a new notification will encourage the users to pause and think how they want to respond before replying to a comment that might be offensive.

According to the developer, the app also advises users to treat creators with respect when messaging them directly.
