A mass funeral prayer was held in Iran’s capital Tehran on Sunday for the country’s late Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei at Imam Khomeini Mosalla Mosque.
The funeral ceremony for Khamenei and his family members drew hundreds of thousands of mourners, many of whom arrived at the venue in the early hours of the morning carrying Iranian flags.
The prayer at the major prayer complex was led by Ayatollah Jafar Sobhani.
Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian, senior military and political officials, and religious figures were among those attending the ceremony.
Calls have rung out for the killing of US President Donald Trump in the crowd of hundreds of thousands of mourners in Iran’s capital.
Ziba Naderi, 42, a nurse attending Khamenei’s funeral, said Iranians need to follow whatever new Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei commands.
“I heard the call for revenge, but our leader should say what we need to do, and we must listen to him,” she said.
Posters and graffiti at the Grand Mosalla called for the killing of Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
Mohammad Rasouli, a poet who emceed the event before the funeral prayers, drew out calls of “Death to America” and “Death to Israel”.

Speaking to the crowd over loudspeakers, Rasouli asked, referring to Trump: “Why is the most bastard man in the world still alive?” The question drew cheers from the crowd.
Khamenei was killed in US-Israeli strikes on Iran that began on Feb. 28 and were followed by Iranian retaliation.
The funeral ceremonies officially began Friday, with foreign leaders and official delegations from across the region and beyond paying tribute to the late Iranian supreme leader.
According to the official schedule, public farewell ceremonies will be followed by the main funeral procession in Tehran on Monday.
The funeral rites will then move to Qom on July 7.
On July 8, ceremonies are scheduled in Iraq, including in Baghdad, Najaf and Karbala, where the body will be received by religious and political figures before being transferred to major Shia shrines.
The final funeral and burial ceremony is scheduled for July 9 at the Imam Ali Reza Shrine in the northeastern city of Mashhad, one of Shia Islam’s holiest sites.

Where is Mojtaba Khamenei?
The son and successor of the late Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei has not been seen in public since his father’s assassination in a US-Israeli strike in February.
Iranian officials say the new supreme leader, who is 56, will not be attending the six days of funeral ceremonies for his father now under way in Tehran, citing security concerns amid continued Israeli threats to assassinate him.
The younger Khamenei was reportedly injured in the strike that killed his father and four members of his family, including his wife and sister, brother-in-law and a 14-month-old niece.
Despite not being seen in public, multiple statements have been attributed to Mojtaba Khamenei on state media.
On June 18, in a written message to the Iranian nation, Khamenei said he had authorised the MoU signed by the Iranian and US presidents, despite holding a “different view” after receiving assurances from top Iranian officials that it would safeguard “the rights of the Iranian nation and the resistance front”.
On June 28, in a written message, Khamenei called for justice and accountability for the US and Israel’s attacks on Iran, including the killing of his father, saying: “What is certain is that the criminals must be seized by the collar and made to face the punishment for their criminal acts.”
