Mon 27 July 2020:

The IDF reported on Monday noon that an incident has taken place on the Israel-Lebanon border near Har Dov (also known as Shebaa farms), which has been contested by Hezbollah since 2000.

The Israeli army’s Arabic-language spokesperson Avichay Adraee said troops foiled the Hezbollah attack by three or four men who infiltrated a few metres over the Blue Line, which demarcates Israel’s 2000 withdrawal from Lebanon.

There were no casualties among Israeli forces, Adraee said.

Earlier, Israel had announced that a security incident had taken place on the border, without further details.

“A little while ago, there were reports of a security incident in the area of Jabal Ros,” Avichai Adraee, a spokesman for the Israeli army, said in a statement.

“The details are yet to be examined,” he added.

There was no immediate statement by Hezbollah, but its Al-Manar television channel reported calm had returned to the area.

This comes as the Israeli army continues to be on alert along the country’s northern frontier in anticipation of retaliatory attacks by the Lebanese Hezbollah organization.

Hezbollah has vowed to respond to the killing of one of its members in an air strike believed to have been launched by Israel, on a site near the Syrian capital, Damascus.

In the past few days, the Israeli army announced it would deploy military reinforcements to the border with Lebanon.
