Sun 27 March 2022:

According to an Israeli police official, Israeli soldiers fatally shot two armed Palestinians in the city of Hadera on Sunday after they allegedly opened fire on Israeli policemen.

According to national police spokesman Eli Levy, two Israeli officers were injured. He also verified the deaths of the two Palestinians without naming them.

“Luckily, our officers managed to neutralise the assailants and prevent a bigger terrorist attack,” Levy said on Israel’s Kan television, which showed footage of two men, armed with rifles, opening fire on a main street in Hadera, about 50 km (30 miles) north of Tel Aviv.

Hadera is located on the Mediterranean shore in the Haifa District.

There was no immediate claim of responsibility.

Surveillance camera footage broadcast on Israeli television stations showed two men opening fire with assault rifles on a main street in Hadera, about 30 miles north of Tel Aviv.

Anthony Blinken, the US Secretary of State, is now in Israel, meeting with officials from numerous Arab countries in historic meetings that began this week.

Blinken will “consult with partners on a range of regional and global priorities, including the Russian government’s war on Ukraine, Iran’s destabilizing activities, the Abraham Accords and normalization agreements with Israel, Israeli-Palestinian relations, and preserving the possibility of a two-state solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, among other topics”, State Department spokesman Ned Price said in a statement.

The visit comes as the administration of US President Joe Biden pushes to get its Middle East allies to join in the Western-led pressure campaign against Russia over its invasion of Ukraine.
