Wed 11 September 2019:

India is unhappy over the reference of situation in the occupied Kashmir in the Pakistan-China joint statement issued Sunday after the conclusion of visit by Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi to Islamabad.

“We reject the reference to Jammu and Kashmir in the joint statement issued by China and Pakistan after the recent visit of Chinese Foreign Minister. J&K is an integral part of India,” Ministry of External Affairs spokesperson Raveesh Kumar said.

The Chinese foreign minister was in Islamabad over the weekend to hold discussions with Pakistani leadership on various issues including Afghanistan and IoK.

Reiterating that the Kashmir issue is a dispute left from history, China said it opposed any unilateral actions that complicated the situation in the Indian Held Kashmir (IHK).

Wang Yi said Beijing was paying close attention to the current situation in the IHK and emphasised that the issue should be properly and peacefully resolved based on the UN Charter, relevant UN Security Council resolutions and bilateral agreements.
