As part of his visit to the United Arab Emirates, Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif met with Abu Dhabi Crown Prince Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al-Nahyan on Saturday (UAE).
Sharif arrived in Abu Dhabi on Saturday for the first time as part of his Gulf tour, which also included Saudi Arabia.
According to the state-run Emirates News Agency, the two leaders “discussed advancing the two nations’ longstanding relations, and the prospects of propelling cooperation on various fronts, as well as reviewed a number of regional and international issues of common concern” during their meeting at the Qasr Al Shati’ Palace (WAM).
Sheikh Mohamed wished the newly elected premier “success in leading Pakistan towards further progress and prosperity over the coming period.”
The crown prince hailed “historical relations” between the two nations and the “valuable contributions” made by the Pakistani community in the UAE.
The Pakistani prime minister thanked Sheikh Mohamed for the warm welcome, praised the UAE’s “great support” for his country’s growth, and expressed his desire to enhance bilateral ties in a variety of areas.
On April 11, Sharif was elected Prime Minister of Pakistan, succeeding Imran Khan, who was removed in a no-confidence vote in parliament.
