Palestinian national and Islamic groups in Jerusalem yesterday called on all Palestinians to boycott Israeli shopping centres.
Launching an awareness campaign against the purchase of Israeli products on the eve of the opening of Israeli supermarket chain, Rami Levi, near the Qalandiya checkpoint in northern Jerusalem, the groups warned that purchasing Israeli goods contributes to funding the occupation and the siege imposed on Jerusalem and the Judaisation policies in the occupied Old City.
“Economic normalisation with the occupation is a premeditated betrayal,” they said. Earlier this week, Israeli Agriculture Minister Uri Ariel ordered Palestinian fresh produce be banned from entry in to the Israeli market. “The importation of fresh agricultural goods from the PA will not be authorised until further notice,” Israeli newspaper Jerusalem Post report Ariel saying.
