Russian President Vladimir Putin also said he was “ready to talk” to Trump.

Russia’s President Vladimir Putin said his country was ready to restore relations with the US, but that the ball was in the US’s court.

“I don’t know what will happen now. I have no idea,” Putin said when asked about what he expected from a second Trump presidency.

“For him, this is still his last presidential term. What he will do is his matter,” Putin added, speaking at an international forum in the Russian Black Sea resort of Sochi.

Putin also said that what Trump has said “about the desire to restore relations with Russia to help end the Ukrainian crisis, in my opinion, deserves attention at least”.

Trump ‘hounded from all sides’ in first term, says Putin

On the assassination attempt against Trump:
