RONALDO BECOMES ALL-TIME TOP SCORER WITH HAT-TRICK AGAINST TOTTENHAM

Cristiano Ronaldo went down in history as the all-time top scorer after his hat-trick brought a 3-2 victory to Manchester United against Tottenham on Saturday.

The Portuguese superstar scored in the 12th, 28th, and 81st minutes of the game, while Tottenham’s Harry Kane converted a penalty in the 35th minute at Old Trafford. Manchester United’s Harry Maguire scored an own goal in the 72nd minute.

With these three goals, Ronaldo also became football’s top scorer of all time including club and country. He surpassed Josef Bican of Slavia Prague who had scored 805 goals. Cristiano Ronaldo is now at 807 goals for club and country. Leo Messi, with 759 goals is at the 4th spot in the list of all time highest goal scorers.

The 37-year-old attacker, who was not included in the starting 11 in the previous league game, scored 15 goals in 30 games this season.

Five-times-Ballon D’or winner won five UEFA Champions League titles, in 2008 with Manchester United, in 2014, 2016, 2017, 2018 with Real Madrid, three Premier League titles with Manchester United in 2007, 2008, 2009 and two La Liga trophies with Real Madrid in 2012 and 2017 throughout his astonishing career.

Ronaldo also won the 2016 European Championship with Portugal.

Cristiano Ronaldo was criticised for a perceived lack of commitment to the team, but this comeback will serve as an apt reply to his critics. The five-time Ballon d’Or winner made a strong comeback by being instrumental in Manchester United’s victory.

After this win, United has maintained their fourth position, but only two points behind Arsenal who have three games in hand. Manchester United will now face Atletico Madrid in the second leg of the Champions League RO16.
