Sevastopol’s municipal governor, Mikhail Razvojaev, claimed on Telegram on Saturday that “The drone was shot down just above the fleet headquarters” and blamed the attempt to Ukrainian forces.

“It fell on the roof and caught fire,” he said, adding that there was no significant damage or victim.

The first reported attack came on July 31, when a presumed Ukrainian drone attacked the Black Sea Fleet on Russia’s Navy Day, wounding five people.

Late on Friday, Russia also reported drone attacks by Ukraine.

According to a local official in Crimea quoted by Russia’s RIA and Tass news agencies, it appeared Russian anti-aircraft units were in action on Friday night close to the western Crimean port of Yevpatoriya.

A Russian website published video showing what seemed to be a ground-to-air missile striking a target.

Recently, Ukraine has stepped up its attacks behind Russian lines in an effort to cut off the supplies Moscow needs to maintain its occupation. While officially declining to comment on events in the Crimea or within Russia, Kyiv has made hints that it was responsible for them, using long-range weapons or sabotage.

In a new $775 million aid package to Ukraine, the United States said for the first time on Friday that it would give Ukraine ScanEagle surveillance drones, mine-resistant vehicles, anti-armour rounds, and howitzer weaponry.
