Sun 10 October 2021:

According to a statement, Saudi Arabian authorities have announced that beginning Sunday, Umrah permits will only be issued to people who have received two doses of approved COVID-19 vaccines in the Kingdom.

The rule will take effect at 6 a.m. on Sunday, October 10, according to Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Hajj and Umrah.

“Restricting the issuance of permits to perform Umrah and prayers in the Grand Mosque and to visit the Mosque of the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, for vaccinated people who have received two doses of the coronavirus vaccine approved in the Kingdom, and the cases excluded from taking the vaccine, as shown by the “Tawakulna” application,” the ministry said in a statement released by the Saudi Press Agency.

Those who have already completed the reservation and received a permit to perform Umrah, or prayer or visitation rituals in Mecca or Medina, but have not completed the two vaccination doses must do so 48 hours before the permit’s expiration date to avoid the permit being canceled, according to the ministry.

According to the Ministry, the Kingdom’s Public Health Authority (Weqaya) is continuously evaluating all precautionary and preventive actions associated to the pandemic, based on changes in the epidemiological situation in Saudi Arabia.
