Wed 12 June 2019:

Yemen’s Iranian-backed Houthi rebels carried out an attack on Saudi Arabia’s Abha airport on Wednesday, injuring 26 people, the Arab coalition said. Arab coalition spokesman Colonel Turki Al Malki said the attack amounts to “war crimes” and will hold the rebels responsible, the state-run Saudi Press Agency reported.

“The attack on the airport proves that the rebels have a sophisticated weapon and the Iranian regime continues to support cross-border terrorism,” Mr Al Malki said. The attack was carried out at 2am on Wednesday morning, Col Al Malki said. Those injured are of different nationalities, Col Al Malki said, including three women. Houthi-backed Al Masirah TV made the announcement and claimed the rebels had targeted the airport with cruise missiles. The rebels have stepped up drone and missile attacks on the kingdom amid increasing tensions between Iran and the United States.
