Tue 23 November 2021:

Sudhir Chaudhary an Islamophobic anchor of Zee News has been ‘dropped’ as a speaker from an Abu Dhabi event after a UAE princess called the controversial TV anchor a terrorist. UAE princess Hend bint Faisal Al Qasim on Sunday took to Twitter to inform that Chaudhary had been dropped from the event.

Chaudhary has been at the forefront of Indian TV anchors, often referred to as lapdogs or TV criminals, in fuelling hatred against Muslims in India. He had led a campaign to defame Indian Muslims by blaming them for spreading coronavirus in 2020. Several Indian high courts later concluded that blaming the members of the Tablighi Jamaat for the spread of the virus was part of propaganda.

United Arab Emirates (UAE) princess Hend bint Faisal Al Qasim claimed in a tweet on Sunday, 21 November, that after she expressed her disappointment with Zee News’ Sudhir Chaudhary being included as a speaker in an Abu Dhabi chartered accountants event, he was dropped from it.

Qasim had shared a letter on Twitter by members of Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) Abu Dhabi Chapter and said in a tweet, “Sudheer Chaudhary dropped from the panel of speakers at the Abu Dhabi Chartered Accountants.” However, it may be noted that the letter states a request that Chaudhary be dropped from the panel of speakers at the event and does not mention that he had been dropped.

The letter shared by Qasim says,

“He (Chaudhary) has been accused of manufacturing and spreading fake news, Islamophobia and communal hatred, doctoring trips, etc. Should we, a prestigious professional body invite and offer a platform and audience to an unprofessional journalist and thereby reduce our dignity and honour?”

Qasim also wrote the following about Chaudhary in another tweet:

“When a criminal spews venom onto a society, that invites violence causing the burning of homes, businesses and mosques. A #MuslimHolocaust is started, together with the abuse of other minorities- Dalits/Sikhs as well. Police sit & watch. I will not welcome such hate in the UAE.”

On Saturday, Princess Hend reacted angrily to the decision to invite Chaudhary to the UAE despite the latter’s role in promoting Islamophobia through his TV broadcasts. Addressing Chaudhary as a ‘terrorist,’ the UAE princess had reminded the organiser how the controversial TV anchor had been routinely defaming Islam and its followers.

In her subsequent social media post, she tweeted, “In 2019 & 2020, Sudhir Chaudhry ran shows on Zee News where he spewed venom against Muslims for leading anti-citizenship protests. He ran fake stories, targeting Muslim students and women for leading the citizenship protest in Shaheen Bagh, New Delhi & other parts of the country.”

She wrote, “Sudhir Chaudhary is a Hindu rightwing anchor known for his deeply Islamophobic shows that target India’s 200 million Muslims. Many of his prime time shows have directly contributed to real world violence against Muslims across the country.”

A First Information Report (FIR) was also filed last year against Chaudhary after his ‘Jihad Chart’ episode was aired on Zee News, explaining the “types of jihad”. Reacting to the FIR, Chaudhary had called it his “Pulitzer Prize for reporting the truth.”
