In an early morning social media message, US President Donald Trump says both Israel and Iran are seeking an off-ramp to their latest bout of fighting.
“Both sides Israel and Iran are looking to do an immediate ceasefire in final negotiations. Peace is proceeding subject to ignorance or stupidity getting in its way,” said the US president on his Truth Social platform.
“The blockade will remain in place and in full force and effect until a final deal is reached and things should move quickly. Thank you for your attention to this matter.”
Israel’s military says Iran has launched a second wave of missiles towards its territory with sirens sounding across the country.
The strikes follow Israeli attacks on Iran with explosions reported in Tehran, Tabriz, and Isfahan as tensions escalate after Israel struck the southern suburbs of Beirut, killing at least two people and wounding 20.
Iran launched a wave of missiles at northern Israel following the attacks on Beirut accusing Israel of repeatedly violating ceasefire agreements.
US President Donald Trump reportedly urged restraint during a phone call with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, and told The Financial Times “he’s the one calling all the shots”.

Israeli army prepares for prolonged escalation despite Trump statement
According to the Israeli army, it is getting ready for a few days of fighting and are also gearing up if the escalation with Iran is prolonged. These remarks were given to the media just before the Trump statement telling Israel and Iran to “stop shooting immediately”.
We know the Israelis do not necessarily defy Trump publicly, but at the same time we are waiting to see how Prime Minister Netanyahu and Israeli officials are going to listen to and respond to this latest statement by the US president – given that he indeed was, from the very beginning, saying to Israel not to retaliate.
According to Israeli sources, the Houthis in Yemen fired two projectiles. One fell on the way to Israel, and the other one was intercepted, according to Israeli Army Radio. This is in addition to 30 missiles fired from Iran.
As we’ve reported, Ben Gurion Airport in Tel Aviv remains open, there’s no talk of closing the airspace for now. We’ve seen some international airlines suspending their flights to and from Israel in general.
In the past two hours, we have not had any new alerts, but at the same time, this was a night where millions of Israelis had to go to shelters or other protected areas. Schools were cancelled and public gatherings restricted.
Iran calls off further attacks on Israel unless Lebanon targeted
Iran’s armed forces have announced the end of military operations against Israel but warned of “harsher” attacks if Israel resumes strikes on Lebanon, the semi-official Fars news agency reports.
“Following the aggressions and acts of mischief by the brutal Zionist regime in southern Lebanon and the Dahieh area, carried out with the support of criminal America, the powerful armed forces of the Islamic Republic of Iran, in support of the oppressed people of Lebanon, delivered a painful response to this regime,” it quoted the Khatam al-Anbiya Central Headquarters as saying.
The statement comes after President Trump demanded Israel and Iran “immediately stop shooting” following a flurry of attacks that threatened to wreck efforts to secure a peace deal to end the economically crippling war.
There was no immediate response from Israel. An unnamed Israeli military official earlier told Reuters news agency his country is prepared for a range of options in Iran from several days to “as long as it takes”.
