TURKMENISTAN FOREIGN MINISTER MEETS TALIBAN IN AFGHANISTAN

Mullah Mohammad Hassan Akhand, Prime Minister of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan, met this morning with Turkmen Foreign Minister Rashid Muradov and his accompanying delegation at the palace.

During the meeting, which was also attended by Deputy Prime Minister Maulvi Abdul Salam Hanafi and other officials of the Islamic Emirate, both sides discussed Afghanistan-Turkmenistan relations, economic cooperation, and transit and joint projects.

Welcoming the Turkmen delegation, the Prime Minister of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan thanked the country for its cooperation with Afghanistan and said that the relations between the two countries are historic and good.

Maulvi Abdul Salam Hanafi, Deputy Prime Minister of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan, said, “We support joint projects between the two countries, including the railway, TAPI, and fiber optics, and see it as in the interest of both countries and the Turkmen government’s efforts in the political field.” He thanked the security and economy and said that the continuation and implementation of joint infrastructure and development projects is beneficial in improving the economies of both countries.

He added that we want to start national projects between the two countries as soon as possible, because all the necessary conditions, including secure security, have been provided for their implementation.

On the other hand, the Turkmen Foreign Minister said that our relations have always been in the interest of both countries and that the presence of the representatives of the Islamic Emirate in international meetings is an urgent necessity.

The Turkmen Foreign Minister assured the continuation of his country’s cooperation in the field of humanitarian aid to Afghanistan and the implementation of joint projects between the two countries, and called it useful for the welfare of the people of Afghanistan and Turkmenistan and the expansion of regional cooperation.

Speaking at the meeting, Rumi Mohammad Yaqub, Acting Minister of National Defense, said that we will not spare any effort to ensure the security of infrastructure and economic projects between the two countries.

He added that since nationwide security has been ensured, it is a better time than ever to implement these projects.
