Wed 01 January 2019:

Uganda deported on Tuesday legendary South African singer and UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador Yvonne Chaka Chaka hours ahead of a scheduled New Year concert performance in the capital Kampala.

Ugandan police spokesman Fred Enanga said Chaka Chaka had entered the country on an ordinary visitor’s visa, but that she required a special working visa as she was to perform at a concert.

As a result, immigration authorities were forced to cancel her temporary visa, Enanga added.

Yvonne Chaka Chaka previously praised Ugandan pop-star-turned opposition politician, Robert Kyagulanyi — also known as Bobi — who has become a challenger of Uganda’s 32-year President Yoweri Museveni.
