US INITIAL JOBLESS CLAIMS RISE BY 16,000

According to the Labor Department, the number of Americans filing first-time unemployment claims increased by 16,000 to 351,000 last week.

For the week ending September 18, analysts predicted 320,000 claims. The amount from the prior week was raised up 3,000 to 335,000.

According to statistics, the jobless rate declined to 5.2 percent in August from 5.4 percent in July.

In August, the world’s largest economy added 235,000 jobs, yet the unemployment rate remained at 8.4 million as of last month.

The coronavirus epidemic caused more than 22 million people in the United States to lose their jobs in March and April of 2020.
