Fri 09 May 2025:
US Vice President JD Vance said Thursday that the United States will not interfere in the conflict between India and Pakistan.
“We want this thing to de-escalate as quickly as possible. We can’t control these countries, though,” Vance told Fox News.
“What we can do is try to encourage these folks to de-escalate a little bit, but we’re not going to get involved in the middle of a war that’s fundamentally none of our business and has nothing to do with America’s ability to control it,” he added.
The US could force neither side to “lay down your arms,” Vance said, adding the country would “continue to pursue this thing through diplomatic channels.”
“Our hope and our expectation is that this is not going to spiral into a broader regional war or, God forbid, a nuclear conflict,” he said.

The escalation began between India and Pakistan on April 22 in an attack in Pahalgam, Indian-administered Kashmir, in which 26 people were killed.
India blamed Pakistan for the attack, claiming there were cross-border links. Pakistan denied involvement and called for a neutral probe.
US Secretary of State Marco Rubio held calls Thursday with Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Indian Foreign Minister Subrahmanyam Jaishankar, while urging them to de-escalate and have direct dialogue.
