A new app aimed at making women feel safer on public transport has been launched in Japan. The ‘Digi Police’ app allows users to press an icon labelled ‘repel groper’, which produces a message that says ‘there is a groper here. Please help’. With a second push of the icon, the message turns red and a voice repeats the words: ‘please stop!’ The app was developed by Japanese police and is already proving popular.
