Fri 25 November 2022:

A report in Wabetainfo reports that WhatsApp has already rolled out the calls tab to a few beta users. In October, the Meta-owned social network rolled out an update that featured a new app sidebar.

In addition to the calls tab, the platform is also releasing a call history tab that lets users view both voice and video call history within the sidebar. The new update was already released for some beta testers and will be released for all users shortly. The call tab feature is expected to be released for everyone in the future.

It is currently in beta, so the data may not sync immediately with the WhatsApp mobile application. The calls placed from the desktop app may also not appear in the call history available on the phone as well. These issues, however, are expected to be addressed in future updates by WhatsApp.

When you open WhatsApp, the calls tab will appear immediately in the sidebar. If this tab does not appear, restart your windows and check again. With this new feature, you will be able to view all of the call information by opening the calling card and reviewing all of your call histories within the desktop app.

WhatsApp is also testing a Screen Lock feature for its Desktop version to add an extra layer of security, allowing you to lock the app via a passcode. Access by fingerprint might also be possible.

With 2 billion users around the world, WhatsApp is used by more than 400 million Indians. If WhatsApp begins offering voice and video calls, users may not switch to Zoom, Microsoft Teams, etc.
