Tue 28 February 2023:

San Francisco: According to reports, the messaging service WhatsApp, which is owned by Meta, is releasing a new “Call Link” feature on Windows beta that would enable users to build links to join calls.

According to WABetaInfo, beta testers can access the new feature through the calls tab.

Users can select the call type, voice or video and copy the link to share it with others in their WhatsApp chats so they can join the call.

Every time someone sets a new call link, the URL will be different, preventing anyone from joining users’ private calls without their consent.

The new feature is helpful as it will allow users to invite people to join a WhatsApp call without the need to add them to the contacts.

The new call link option is released to some beta testers after installing the WhatsApp beta for Windows 2.2307.1.0 update available on the Microsoft Store, and is expected to roll out to more users over the coming days, the report said

A new photo and video shortcut within chats and groups was reportedly being rolled out on Windows beta earlier this month, according to earlier reports.
