The Assistant Secretary-General of the Arab League, Hossam Zaki, has reiterated the League’s offer to help Lebanon overcome its current crises and form a government.

Zaki called on the Lebanese political parties to overcome their differences and implement the necessary reforms that meet the aspirations and demands of the Lebanese people.

“I renew the Arab League’s readiness to do whatever is asked of it, to heal the current rift and reach a common equation that enables the Prime Minister-designate, Saad Hariri, to form his government without delay, according to the French initiative, which was endorsed by the League during its last meeting on March 3,” he said in a statement.

Zaki pointed out that “the League’s Secretary-General, Ahmed Aboul Gheit, is deeply concerned about the debates in the political field that suggest that the country is sliding into a severe crisis.”

Lebanon is witnessing the worst economic crisis in its modern history exacerbated by Hariri and President Michel Aoun’s failure to reach an agreement on a government.
