Palestine registers 142 new cases while Morocco reports 92 infections

RAMALLAH, West Bank / RABAT, Morocco (AA) – Health authorities in Palestine and Morocco confirmed additional infections from the novel coronavirus on Wednesday.

In a statement, the Palestinian Health Ministry said 142 cases were seen over the past 24 hours, pushing the figure to 1,519.

Palestinian authorities have so far confirmed five deaths from the disease and 616 recoveries.

In Morocco, North Africa, the Health Ministry said 92 people tested positive for the virus, bringing total infections in the country to 10,264.

Morocco’s death toll from the disease now stands at 214, in addition to 8,384 recoveries.

Since originating in Wuhan, China last December, the pandemic has claimed some 478,000 lives in 188 countries and regions.

More than 9.27 million cases have been reported worldwide, while nearly 4.65 million patients have recovered, according to figures compiled by the US’ Johns Hopkins University.
