US President Joe Biden said individuals do not need to get a booster shot of the coronavirus vaccine right now but it might be needed later.
“The booster shot is not needed now, it’s possible that it’ll be needed later, science hasn’t dictated that yet,” Biden said on Thursday.
Biden said COVID-19 cases are beginning to spike in the United States and expected to climb due to the delta variant.
Legality Of Business Vaccine Mandates
The Justice Department has made clear that businesses requiring COVID-19 vaccinations is legal, Biden said as he outlined the new Federal response plan to the delta variant spike in cases.
“Every day, more businesses are implementing their own vaccine mandates, and the Justice Department has made it clear that it is legal to require COVID-19 vaccines,” Biden said at a press conference on Thursday.
Biden also said he was unsure if it was legal for the federal government to mandate vaccines.
The US government will now reimburse employers who give their workers time off to go and get themselves and their families vaccinated, President Joe Biden said during a speech about updated COVID-19 response measures.
“The Federal government will now reimburse those employers to give their staff time off not only to get themselves vaccinated, but also to get their family members vaccinated,” Biden said on Thursday.
Biden also announced that unvaccinated federal government workers will have to wear masks, socially distance and get tested twice-weekly for coronavirus in order to return to work in-person.’
US President Joe Biden plans to direct the Department of Defense to add Covid-19 vaccine to the list of required vaccinations for those who serve in military, the White House said on Thursday.
“Today, the President [Biden] will announce that he is directing the Department of Defense to look into how and when they will add COVID-19 vaccination to the list of required vaccinations for members of the military. This is particularly important because our troops serve in places throughout the world many where vaccination rates are low and disease is prevalent,” the White House said in a release.
