Don’t link Zakir Naik to LTTE issue, Dr Mujahid Yusof says

Wed 16 October 2019:

There is no need to associate controversial Muslim Dr Zakir Naik with the arrests of several individuals, including two state DAP Excos, for their alleged involvement in the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE).

Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department Datuk Seri Dr Mujahid Yusof said police had the right to detain any individuals found to be involved in any terrorist activities, regardless of religion.

“Muslims or non-Muslims — we reject any involvements with activities linked to terrorism.

“Police have the right to detain anyone, if it is backed up with solid proof.

“I don’t know why Dr Zakir’s name is dragged into this issue,” he told a press conference after attending the Negri Sembilan Maqasid Syariah Town Hall Session here, today.

Also present was Negri Sembilan Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Aminuddin Harun

Yesterday, Penang Deputy Chief Minister II Dr P. Ramasamy had proposed the tabling of white papers on Dr Zakir in Parliament, following a Pas proposal for a similar action on LTTE.
