EGYPT, ETHIOPIA, SUDAN REACH FINAL DEAL ON FILLING RENAISSANCE DAM

The Egyptian Foreign Ministry announced on Friday the final agreement regarding the filling of the Renaissance Dam, Anadolu Agency reported.

In a statement, the Egyptian Agriculture Ministry revealed that the tripartite talks on the filling and operating of the dam were completed in Washington, under the auspices the US secretary of treasury, Steven Mnuchin, and in the presence of representatives of the International Monetary Fund (IMF).

The agreement includes arrangements on the filling of the dam and measures to be taken during times of drought, as well as rules on long-term operation.

In addition, the agreement includes procedures relating to dealing with emergencies.

Meanwhile, the US announced that it would take part, along with the IMF, in producing the final draft of the agreement.

According to the statement, the agreement will be finalised and signed before the end of the month.
