Tue 31 August 2021:
The first Bahraini ambassador to Israel, Khaled Al Jalahma, arrived in Tel Aviv on Tuesday, according to Israeli Foreign Ministry spokesman Lior Haiat.
“Today, Bahrain’s first ambassador to Israel arrived at Ben Gurion International Airport.
The Ambassador’s arrival, and the upcoming official opening of the Bahraini Embassy in Israel, mark an important step in developing the bilateral relations between the two countries and their peoples which has been a priority for both H.E. [Israeli] FM Lapid and H.E. [Bahraini] FM Al Zayani,” Haiat wrote on Twitter.
In mid-September, Israel and Bahrain decided to normalize bilateral relations, and in November, the two governments agreed to open embassies in each other’s countries.
Bahraini King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa selected Al Jalahma, a former deputy head of Bahrain’s diplomatic mission in the United States from 2009 to 2013, as the country’s envoy to Israel in March.
