Tue 10 August 2021:
France will begin COVID-19 revaccination for vulnerable populations in mid-September, according to government spokesman Gabriel Attal.
“The President of the Republic decided to organize a revaccination campaign for at-risk groups. It will be established by the National Authority for Health … It will be possible to sign up [to the vaccination] from the end of August – the beginning of September, and the campaign will begin in mid-September,” Attal said after a meeting of the Council of Ministers.
President Emmanuel Macron earlier in the day termed the present COVID-19 scenario in France as “more than problematic.” Since mid-July, the daily numbers have been steadily increasing, with the most recent amount surpassing 30,000.
To date, almost 80 million doses of COVID-19 vaccination have been administered in France, with over 6.4 million coronavirus infections and over 112,000 deaths as a result.
