Instead, labour organisations say employers have increasingly used the anti-illegal migrant climate to dismiss workers, while businesses are now grappling with shortages of experienced labour.

◼️ Another warning: It added that anyone who loses their card or phone should block their card immediately through the banking app if possible and contact the bank’s fraud team without delay. “If you have access to your banking app, block your card, then contact our fraud team straight away. Fraudsters can misuse lost cards and devices within minutes,” Discovery Bank warned.

◼️ Pain for people with solar panels: Financially distressed municipalities are turning to additional charges on households with rooftop solar systems as a new source of funding, rather than addressing the root causes of their financial problems. This is according to civil rights organisation AfriForum, which described solar registration fees and monthly charges for customers with solar as a “piggy bank” for struggling municipalities.

◼️ The most stolen car part in SA: Vehicle crime and parts theft in South Africa have evolved, with criminals increasingly targeting car accessories and vehicle parts that can be removed quickly and resold easily. “Mag wheels and tyres remain among the most frequently stolen vehicle accessories because they are valuable and relatively easy to remove,” it explained.
