◼️BEE billionaires feasting: Econometrix chief economist Dr Azar Jammine says parts of South Africa’s BEE policy have been used to facilitate cronyism and corruption, with state procurement being the main feeding ground. ◼️ Illegal Weight Loss Drug Floods SA: Online searches uncovered dozens of unapproved peptide products aggressively promoted for rapid weight loss, muscle recovery, anti-aging and longevity. Some are sold as individual vials. Others are marketed as injectable “stacks”, personalised wellness protocols or comprehensive coaching programs. What deeply worries people like Zaheer Bayat, a Johannesburg- based endocrinologist, is that patients, driven by societal pressure and social media trends, are bypassing the vital safeguards built into South Africa’s medical infrastructure.

◼️ SA loses bid to block Rhino horn exports: Supporters say the ban is vital to protect dwindling wild rhino populations from poaching, while advocates of legal trade argue that regulated sales of horn harvested from live animals could fund conservation and curb black-market demand. South Africa is home to the world’s largest rhino population but is also a poaching hotspot, driven by demand for rhino horn in parts of Asia, where it is used in traditional medicine and as a status symbol.
