Mon 01 November 2021:

In the Yemeni province of Marib, a Houthi ballistic missile attack on a mosque and a religious school killed and injured 29 civilians, including women and children, according to Yemen’s Information, Culture and Tourism Minister Moammar Al-Eryani.

Nearly 30 civilians were killed and injured in an air strike carried out by the Houthi rebels in the Yemeni province of Marib,

“Twenty-nine civilians died and were injured including women and children,” Al-Eryani tweeted.

The rebels fired two ballistic missiles on residential quarters in the southern Juba district, hitting a mosque and a religious center too, the minister from the official Saudi-backed government said.

Two ballistic missiles were used in the attack late on Sunday, Marib governor’s office said in a statement.

The Houthis, who are backed by Iran, have made no immediate claim of responsibility.

In recent months, fighting between government forces and the Houthis has intensified. According to the United Nations, fighting in Marib, the internationally recognized government’s last northern stronghold, displaced 10,000 people in September. It is calling for a humanitarian corridor for aid.

Since February 2020, Houthis have been carrying out a large-scale operation against the Yemeni army in Marib to gain control over the provincial, which is also a political, military, and economic center.

The war in Yemen, which has ensured economic collapse and imposed import restrictions on Houthi-held areas, has resulted in the world’s worst humanitarian crisis, according to the United Nations, with 16 million people facing hunger.

After the Iran-aligned Houthis toppled the Saudi-backed government from Sanaa in late 2014, a coalition of forces led by Riyadh intervened in Yemen in March 2015.
