Thu 04 August 2022:
The intensive care units (ICU) all around France are under pressure, according to Marc Noizet, head of Samu-Urgences France, a provider of emergency services.
Speaking to the French news channel Franceinfo, Noizet said that an investigation of the ICU in July shows that in some regions, there were “very significant increases of 80 or even 100 percent in activities” in ICUs.
A total of 95 percent of ICUs have encountered “significant problems with the availability of beds”, 90 percent have difficulties with medical personnel and 89 percent have difficulties with the lack of non-medical personnel, the French media outlet said.
According to the data, in July, 23 hospitals totally shuttered their ICUs for a total of 208 days, while 42 hospitals were required to close their ICUs for a total of 546 nights.
